The average value of the food price index in the world in June this year, calculated by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), increased by 1.4% compared to May and by 7% compared to June of last year. Thus, the growth of world food prices continues for the second month in a row, the press service of the organization. Growth was associated with a noticeable increase in prices for dairy products, cereals and meat, while prices for sugar and vegetable oils fell. Thus, the average value of the price index for dairy products increased by 8.3%, approaching the maximum level for the last three years. The value of the grain price index increased by 4.2% compared to May and is the highest indicator for the last year. The average value of the price index for meat increased by 1.8%, its growth continues for the sixth consecutive month. At the same time, the average value of the sugar price index is 13.4% lower than the level of May, which became a minimum for 16 months. And the value of the price index for vegetable oils decreased by 3.9% due to the fall in prices for palm and soybean oil.
