On May 10, 2017 in Moscow, law enforcement officers detained the incumbent colonel of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Federation, Vasily Geranin, member of the Council of the Commanders of the Donbas Union of Volunteers, an accomplice and key witness in the case of the destruction of the MH17 flight on July 17, 2014 in eastern Ukraine.
This was reported by volunteers InformNapalm.
In their opinion, the signs of the detention of Geranin indicate the implementation of the FSB special operation to clean and isolate the witnesses of the terrorist act against the international community.
So, the reason for the detention was that Geranin allegedly carried in his car a fragmentation munition for a 40 mm grenade launcher GP-25, in addition to the residence of Geranin identified several pieces of firearms. In the detention and searches involved traffic police and police, but the staged and the method of detention are similar to a planned operation of the FSB, volunteers say.
At the moment the detainee is under investigation in the SIZO.
From the GRU, Geranin was dismissed in hindsight.
As volunteers reminded, on July 20, 2014, the SBU published an interception of the report of the militant Igor Bezler Vasily Geranin about the downed plane MN17.
