A large dose of vitamin C injection can halt the development of cancers, US scientists believe.
Scientists have found that vitamin C can interact with substances that are in cancer cells. Specialists conducted an experiment in mice with pancreatic cancer and ovarian cancer. In mice injected with vitamin C, tumor growth was reduced from 41% to 53%, and in mice that did not receive vitamin, there was an intensive growth of the tumor. According to scientists, large doses of vitamin C can be used as a cure for cancer, since ascorbic acid may be capable of killing cancer cells.
After successful tests on mice, experts plan to conduct research on humans. The dose that scientists injected was 4 grams of vitamin per kilogram of body weight - this is much more than a person can get in food and tablets. Experts hope that ascorbate can be used in the fight against cancer. Such an affordable and inexpensive way of treatment could save the lives of many people, scientists stressed..
