Breakthrough dams are possible on several cascading reservoirs in the Bolgrad district of the Odessa region, according to the correspondent of the news agency "Route E-95".
The most threatening condition on the Golitsa water body, the dam of which is considered unsatisfactory. For the purpose of its examination in the district visited the director of the state regional design and survey institute "Ukryuzhgiprovodkhoz" Oleg Chizhik and chief engineer of this institute Viktor Zaitsev. Together with the deputy chairman of the district administration Andrei Garvalov, the director of the Bolgrad interdistrict water management department Mikhail Balev, representatives of the State Emergency Service and Golitsk rural head Petr Nedyalkov, they examined the dam.
The final conclusions and recommendations will be given in the near future, but it is already obvious that the dam has significant damages and in case of heavy precipitation its breakthrough is possible: the slabs on the dam have dispersed, water seeps through the ground,. Repair work on the dam and survey of the object was not conducted for 30 years. To date, there is not even a tenant on the pond.
The pond has an area of ??95 hectares. If the dam is destroyed, there is a threat of flooding the village of Golitsa. In order for this not to happen, repair work is necessary and, as a result, significant financial costs.
"In order not to aggravate the situation, before the receipt of the expert's opinion, we conduct measures to discharge water," assured A. Harvalov. This work was joined by the village council and employees of the State Service for Emergency Situations.
We will add, the Odessa Regional State Administration prepares documents for the auction to transfer to the Golitsk reservoir.
