Pregnant women need to reduce their coffee consumption to two cups a day, and tea - up to four, recommends the US Food Standards Agency.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has reduced the recommended intake of stimulant beverages from 300 mg per day to 200 mg. Such recommendations emerged as a result of a study of the effects of caffeine on infants born with underweight.

According to experts, children born with an insufficient weight in the body are more likely to develop cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. Doctors say that if you follow their recommendations for drinking coffee and tea, then the risk of health problems of the child will be minimal.

No more than two cups of coffee per day are advised to drink to pregnant women, but do not panic if you have consumed three cups, as these are recommendations, not requirements. Although, to adhere to such norms is not at all difficult to exclude an additional risk to the child's health, say representatives of the FSA. The choice is yours!.
