Windows lost half of the European smartphone market

Analysts Kantar Worldpanel ComTech have published a new study that characterizes the spread of mobile operating systems in different countries.

The publication MSPoweruser, referring to the analytical data, notes that the share of Windows-devices in the European smartphone market for the year fell more than twice - from 4.8% in February-April 2016 to 2%. True, only the "Big Five" countries are considered here: Germany, Great Britain France, Italy and Spain.

Android accounted for about 78.3% of smartphone shipments in these countries, which is 2.2 percentage points more than a year ago. The iOS presence grew by 1.1 percentage points, to 19.3%.

In China, Android has strengthened its leadership by recording a market share of 83.4% against 79.1% a year ago. IPhone for this time lost just 3.8 percentage points (the share fell from 20% to 16.2%). On Windows, only 0.2% of smartphones sold in China.

It is worth noting that Windows-tubes in the US have become more popular: their share in the local market has increased from 1.3% to 1.6%. In the leading Android the indicator decreased from 67.6% to 61.7%. IPhone occupies 36.5% of the US smart phone market.
