Queen of Great Britain Elizabeth II appealed to the nation about her official birthday, reports BBC.

She noted that Britain was plunged into a "gloomy mood" amid the events of recent weeks - a fire in the Grenfell Tower building, an attack on the London Bridge and a terrorist attack at a concert in Manchester.

"This year it's hard not to notice that the nation has fallen into an extremely gloomy mood. In recent months, the country has experienced a series of terrible tragedies, "- so the Queen began her message.

Elizabeth after meeting with the victims was struck by the willingness of people across the country to help each other and support.

"In times of trials, the United Kingdom remained unshakable in the face of danger. United by a common grief, we are also determined, without fear and without selectivity, to help all those who are rebuilding their lives, on which they left their terrible imprint of destruction and loss, "the Queen concluded her message.

This year, the birthday of the Queen is officially celebrated on June 17. Usually the holiday takes place on the second Saturday of June, but this year it was postponed for a week.
