In iOS 10 and earlier versions, it was not possible to view GIF images in the standard Photos application. Owners of iPhone and iPad could share animated pictures, but in the media library they always remained static. IOS 11 corrected the situation - users were able to view "hyphy" by standard means.

Moreover, in iOS 11 you can quickly find GIF-images, because they have a separate folder "Animated", as for the screenshots.

The innovation seems to be minor, but this is what users have asked Apple for several years. Especially since in iOS 10 appeared App Store for iMessage, so GIF-animations began to be used more often. More and more third-party developers have implemented support for "gifok", and now, finally, the standard "Photos" application can work with animated images.

IOS 11 is in beta status, so there is a possibility that Apple will refuse to the final release. Although there are no visible reasons for this.
