The main enemy of Ukrainians is impatience, but the way the country is going now will lead Ukraine to success in 10 years.
This in an interview with Apostrof was told by Senior Vice President of the Center for European Policy Analysis and editor of the authoritative British magazine The Economist, Edward Lucas.
He warned that ahead of Ukraine there will be a long process and a lot of disappointments.
"The main thing is to remember that in comparison with 2014 you are in an incomparably better position: you have overcome the triple crisis from the point of view of geopolitics and security, stopped the Russians, and now, it seems to me, the project like" Novorossia "does not present any danger. Russia lost its war from the point of view of aggression in Ukraine. You have overcome the financial and economic crisis: the economy is growing, stabilizing, there is no threat of default. You also overcame the crisis of political competition, there is no corruption of institutions, although Yanukovich left them behind in a terrible state, "- said Lucas.
In his opinion, the main thing now for Ukraine is to improve the administrative culture, the rule of law, transparency, fight corruption.
"There are very few examples where the transformation of the state occurred quickly. So I am patient and optimistic, and I think that in ten years Ukraine will be in much better shape than now.. Just like now it is in much better shape than three years ago, "- said Lucas.
As reported by the "Observer", earlier in the West, Russia was severely broken off with the war in Ukraine.
