Alibaba Group Holding Company announced the construction of new data centers in the conditions of rapid growth of cloud business, the DigiTimes.

According to Alibaba's plans, by the end of March 2018 in Indian Mumbai and Indonesian Jakarta should earn one data center of the company. As a result, the total number of Alibaba data centers will reach 17. Currently, such facilities are located in China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Australia, the United States, the Middle East and Europe.

The construction of the Alibaba data center in India will be carried out jointly with the local company Global Cloud Xchange, the "daughter" of the telecommunications operator Reliance Communications. The Chinese Internet giant also began cooperation with the largest communication operator in India - Tata Communications. The partnership involves the provision of cloud services through the Alibaba Cloud.

According to Alibaba data, by the end of March 2017 the cloud division of the company had 874 thousand. Users of paid services, which is 70% more than a year ago. In the last fiscal year, Alibaba Cloud's revenue was 6.7 billion yuan (about $ 968 million), which is 121% more than a year ago.
