On June 9, 2017, the judge of the Kostopilsky district court of the Rivne region Petro Oliynyk, having considered Sergey Salivonchik's statement, established the legal fact of the death of his son Ruslan in the performance of military service duties as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

Militia captain Ruslan Salivonchik volunteered to defend his country and in June 2014 was enrolled in the special police battalion "Kherson".

On August 18, fifty volunteers from the battalion were sent to Mariupol, and then to Ilovaysk to strengthen the volunteer battalion "Donbass", which held positions in the railway depot area of ??Ilovaisk.

August 29, in the village of Osykovo Starobeshevsky district of the Donetsk region during a breakthrough from the Ilovaiskiy cauldron, militia captain Ruslan Salivonchik was killed.

For the special courage and heroism shown in the protection of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, loyalty to the military oath Salivonchik Ruslan Sergeevich was posthumously awarded the Order of "Courage" of the third degree.

The father of the deceased hero in court was supported by the team of "The Force of Law" composed of Valentin Kucheryavy and Lyudmila Churilovich.
