In order to resolve the doubts that exist in Spanish society, the ABC edition told its readers about the sources of funding from the Catholic Church. As it turned out, after the adoption of the democratic constitution in 1979, an agreement was signed between the state and the church, according to which in the future, the allocation of any funds for the needs of the largest religious organization of the country.

This moment came only in 2006, when a new model for funding the Catholic Church of Spain was adopted, based entirely on a voluntary basis, writes Spain in Russian.

Since 1988, citizens have been able to deduct 0.53% of personal income tax (IRPF) for church or social needs. Twelve years later, the inhabitants of Spain were able to choose both of these options at once, and six years later the amount of deductions in favor of the church was increased to 0.7% of the tax amount.

However, without receiving anything at all in the form of direct subsidies from the state, the Spanish Catholic Church has a number of other sources of income. These include voluntary donations of organizations and individuals, property and financial resources bequeathed by parishioners, as well as money collected for the provision of standard services - services, rituals, ceremonies, and so on..
