Ukrainian journalist Yury Butusov saw in the entry into force of the visa-free regime between Ukraine and the EU an indication of the collapse of the Russian Federation as an empire.

Butusov wrote about this on Facebook.

The journalist recalled how the Ukrainian hetman Bogdan Khmelnitsky united Ukraine and Russia at the time. However, according to Butusov, thereby Khmelnytsky lost, because he ceased to fight for the independence of his state.

The Ukrainians, the journalist is convinced, have always striven for freedom and independence. Therefore, the empires into which they were included fell apart, as once Speech of Popolit, then - the USSR and now here is the Russian Federation.

At the same time, in the comments to Butusov's post Khmelnitsky was interrupted by blogger Victor Tregubov.

"To be honest, it (Khmalnitsky, - Ed.. ) Can not be blamed for this. He lived in a world where the sovereignty of the state did not come from the self-determination of the people, but from the sovereign rights of the sovereign, and the creation of a full-fledged new state simply because the people so wanted, seemed (and was) nonsense. Up to the very idea of ??the sovereign nation there were more than a hundred years left. Even the Greeks in the 19 th century, initially creating a republic with the president, eventually invited to reign the German monarch, "- said Tregubov.
