The Saudi Arabian Football Federation has apologized after members of their team ignored a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the terrorist attack in London.
During a minute of silence in memory of the eight killed in the terrorist attack in London, which took place before the match between the teams of Australia and Saudi Arabia, the Saudis continued to warm up and wander in their half of the field.
This behavior caused severe criticism from the public, to which the Saudi Arabian Football Federation reacted with an official statement.
"The Saudi Arabian Football Federation deeply regrets and unconditionally apologizes for the fact that some members of the team did not observe a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the terrorist attack in London on June 3, 2017".
"Players did not want to show disrespect to the memory of the victims or insult their families, friends or anyone who suffered from this gross misconduct".
"The Saudi Arabian Football Federation condemns all acts of terrorism and extremism and expresses its sincere condolences to the families of all victims, as well as to the Government and people of the United Kingdom".
During the attack, two Australian citizens were killed.
