US Senator John McCain prepared an amendment to the US Senate that will expand sanctions against the Russian Federation.
The advisory statement McCain published in Facebook.
"The United States must send a strong signal to Vladimir Putin and any other aggressor. We will not tolerate attacks on our democracy. There is no greater threat to our liberties than an attack on our ability to freely choose our own leaders, without foreign interference, "said the US Senator.
According to him, the Russian president must pay for the Kremlin's interference in the presidential elections in the US.
"We must act now by adopting my amendment, which will impose strict sanctions on Russia and will make Putin pay the price for his brazen interference in our elections," McCain concluded..
As the Observer reported earlier, the G7 countries earlier said they would uphold sanctions against Putin until Russia fully implemented the Minsk accords.
