In Russia, it is necessary to introduce a special oath for people who receive the citizenship of a given country.

This was stated by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, reports Meduza.

He noted that he welcomed the experience of some countries where by such oaths newly-made citizens guarantee their obligation to follow the laws of the state and keep its traditions and customs.

Putin advised the State Duma to consider the possibility of implementing such a step. The initiative was supported by Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, who promised that the deputies would draft the appropriate text of the oath and even allowed the imposition of punishment for its non-compliance.

As reported by the "Observer", previously Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexei Meshkov enviously spoke about granting the EU a visa-free regime to Ukraine.
