Moderate physical activity can reduce the craving for smoking. Thanks to sports, you can even manage nicotine addiction, according to British researchers from the University of Exeter.

Scientists conducted an experiment in which heavy smokers were offered a cycle of moderate-intensity physical activity - the exercises continued for 10 minutes after 15 hours of abstinence from smoking. Then the neurologists checked the results of scanning the brain of participants using functional magnetic resonance imaging while viewing the last 60 images with cigarettes and smoking scenes.

It turned out that the brain area responsible for reward and visual attention was not active after physical training - this indicates the stabilization of the attraction to cigarettes. It is noted that even a short physical exercise can significantly help smokers in the fight against bad habit.

Presumably, exercise improves mood by increasing the hormone dopamine, thereby reducing the importance and importance of artificial external stimulants such as nicotine, researchers say.
