At the next meeting of the "Norman" Quartet, a fundamentally new approach to the solution of the Ukrainian question.

Such a forecast was given to the "Observer" by the ex-Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Lieutenant-General Igor Romanenko.

In his opinion, the need for an early meeting of the Quartet may be related to two reasons. First, it must be held before the next meeting of the G-20, which will be held in Hamburg in July this year. "They need to formulate a position before the G20, at which Putin will meet with Trump. They understand that if they agree without Europe, then for the EU this can not turn out to be the best way, because Ukraine belongs to the strategic interests of Europe, "explained the general.

Secondly, the haste of convening the four can be connected with the desire to voice "some fundamentally new approach to the solution of the Ukrainian question," suggested Romanenko.

"The approach is not yet a decision, but at least there is hope that there will be news. We must offer new elements in the solution of the Ukrainian question, which will change the whole system. Of course, we must start with security, "he said..

As the "Observer" wrote, on May 29 the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov announced that in the days following the preparation of the special report of the OSCE mission, a telephone conversation will take place between the leaders of the "Norman Quartet", which includes Germany, France, Russia and Ukraine.
