For trips to Europe after the introduction of a visa-free regime, children as well as adults need to have a biometric passport of a citizen of Ukraine.
This is reported by the State Border Service of Ukraine.
The department noted that the passport for children from birth to 16 years is issued for a period of 4 years. After 16 years passports are issued with a full validity period of 10 years.
At the same time, children under the age of 12 do not pass fingerprints, but such a passport retains the status of a biometric and gives permission for visa-free entry to the EU.
"Since 12 years, this procedure is mandatory, and the signature of the child when issuing a passport is placed, starting with 14 years," it was informed..
The border guards reminded that children aged 16 and over have the right to travel to Europe without visas, until 16 years they can travel outside Ukraine only with the support of both parents or accompanied by one of the parents or with a trustee, having notarized Parental consent.
If a child under the age of 16 leaves with one of the parents (guardians, adoptive parents), then a notarized consent of the second parent (guardian, adoptive parent). At the same time, if one of the parents lives abroad, the consent is certified by the consular offices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
If one of the parents does not want to sign consent, then such a dispute is decided in a court of law. In this case it is necessary to prove that traveling abroad is carried out in the interests of the child.
Recall, citizens of Ukraine with biometric passports will be entitled to visa-free entry to EU countries and member countries of the Schengen area outside the European Union on the night of June 11.
