The Ministry of Health said that at the moment in Ukraine, another predicted epidemic rise in the incidence of measles, which is associated with low coverage of preventive vaccinations of children and the cyclical nature of this disease.

"A complex epidemic situation on the incidence of measles has developed as a result of the accumulation of a significant unvaccinated stratum among the population. Now there is an increase in the disease in comparison with last year more than 20 times. In the first 4 months of this year, there were 172 cases of measles. Over the same period last year, 8 cases were registered, "- said Deputy Minister of Health for European Integration Oksana Sivak.
Analysis of the cases showed that of 61 patients, 61 received no measles vaccine, and 16 had no immunization data.
In May, there is an increase in the incidence of measles in the Odessa and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. Since the beginning of the year and as of May 22 in the Odessa region, 114 suspicions have been fixed for measles, of which 83 cases have been laboratory confirmed. In the Ivano-Frankivsk region, 7 outbreaks of measles incidence were registered: from the beginning of the year, there were 279 complaints with suspected measles, 140 of them received laboratory confirmation.
The Ministry of Health added that the incidence of measles in Ukraine is characterized by periodic cycles.
