Amazon still controls most of the world market of services for cloud infrastructure, however, five large competitors demonstrate higher business growth rates. This is evidenced by the data of analysts Synergy Research Group.

According to their estimates, in the first quarter of 2017, the total revenues of vendors from services for the deployment of cloud infrastructure (including public IaaS, PaaS, and managed private clouds) reached $ 10 billion, an increase of 40% compared to the same period last year, despite On such a deterrent as the high dollar rate.

The largest segment is public IaaS-solutions, and the highest growth rates are demonstrated by public clouds PaaS. The services developed in the framework of PaaS in the field of databases, the "Internet of things" and analysts are growing by more than 100% per year.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) accounts for about a third of the market in question. At the same time, revenue from Microsoft, Google, IBM, Alibaba and Oracle is increasing faster than AWS. So, Microsoft, Google and Alibaba growth rates exceed 80%.

AWS, Microsoft and Google are leading the IaaS and PaaS segments, while IBM has no equal when it comes to managed private clouds. Here Rackspace and some suppliers of traditional IT services take a stronger position than in the public cloud market.

"In the group of cloud market leaders, we see a clear stratification with the participation of AWS, a group of more rapidly growing companies and several other niche players," said John Dinsdale, chief analyst and research director at Synergy Research Group,. - In addition to these leading companies, the cloud market has a long string of suppliers or small or medium-sized companies that have a small share. Such players, as a rule, are focused on a certain country or region. Some of the small players have good opportunities, but they are unlikely to have a strong impact on the state of affairs in the world market ".

According to the analytical company Canalys, in the fourth quarter of 2016, the world market for cloud infrastructure services grew by 49% and reached $ 10.3 billion. The dominant position in the market is retained by AWS with a market share of 33.8%. In this case, the three nearest competitors - Microsoft, Google and IBM - even in the total recorded a smaller figure equal to 30.8%.
