Last month in local social networks there were photos of an extremely obese macaque, which was immediately nicknamed "Uncle Fat". Then it was noticed and local zoosecurity. According to The Guardian, the animal had to be caught and put on a strict diet - fast food and soda, which the monkey was fed by tourists, caused her to have severe obesity, threatening life. If the normal weight of such a macaque is 9 kilograms, then "Uncle fat" weighed 23. At the same time it was not easy to catch him-it turned out that the fat macaque was the leader of the pack, and veterinarians had to fight back with sticks from his "subordinates" who also brought him food. "After" Uncle Fat "for a certain time he ate what his tourists were fed, he typed fat mass, which turned into something like a benign tumor. Now he is in a critical condition - there is a high risk of heart disease and diabetes, "- says the veterinarian. The monkey was put on a strict diet and hoped to return it to the wild after a few months. Thai veterinarians urge tourists not to feed wild monkeys with unhealthy food that they themselves eat.
