Women who breastfeed are more likely to aggressively protect their children and themselves than women who are breastfeeding or have no children at all, scientists have established in their research paper published in the journal Psychological Science.

And when nursing mothers aggressively behave, they have lower blood pressure in relation to other women, writes The Times of India. According to scientists this suggests the following: breastfeeding can suppress the body's usual response to fear, giving women the courage necessary to protect themselves.

It turns out that feeding has a positive moment for the mother and the baby, says the head of the research Jennifer Khan-Holbrook from the University of California. Perhaps this mechanism helps mothers to deal with stress. However, the aggression shown by nursing mothers has its limits. Women are unlikely to become initiators of the conflict.
