In the Crimea, Russian security officials try all day to prevent Crimean Tatars from commemorating the victims of deportation. Honestly, this is not surprising. Because the memory of deportation destroys the main "spiritual suture" of the Russian Federation - the Myth of the Great Patriotic War.

Within the framework of this myth, the deportation of the Crimean Tatars was a "punishment for collaborationism". And on May 18 for the empire - it's a day of repentance, but not before the Crimean Tatars, and the day of repentance for the Crimean Tatars.

And such selective memory exists only for the Crimean Tatars. Because no one in Russia on May 9 does not say that one should remember not only the exploits of Russian soldiers, but also about Andrei Vlasov and ROA, the 15th Cossack Cavalry Corps SS and the 29th Grenadier Division. Moreover - all the peoples of the Union are perceived only as winners, and only Crimean Tatars for access to this holiday are invited to go through face-control through public repentance.

In other nations, there is an unspoken principle: feat and heroism are declared a collective norm, and betrayal and collaboration are individual deviations. And with regard to the Crimean Tatars everything turned out the opposite: their heroes - like the twice hero of the USSR Amet-Khan Sultan - are declared exceptions to the rule, and those who fought on the side of the Wehrmacht.

Moreover, the thesis that the "percentage of traitors" among the Crimean Tatars is higher than that of other peoples sounds like a refrain. But all who compare the numbers of Russians and Crimean Tatars who fought along different front lines in Russia forget one simple thing: collaborationism is possible only in the occupied territory. In Tomsk or Vladivostok, there could not be either policemen or volunteer guard battalions - the Germans did not reach there, and therefore the local population did not face such a choice. Therefore, lovers calculate the "coefficient of betrayal" should be based on the number of people living in the territory occupied by the Wehrmacht. And this will give completely different proportions.

But to prove all this to the supporters of the "Russian world" is absolutely meaningless. The Crimean Tatars are held for Russian braces just because the tragedy of deportation prevents the Kremlin adepts from feeling victory in the war as an unconditional holiday. Because it is she who crosses out all the pathos: it turns out that the liberation of the peninsula from the Germans did not become a triumph of justice. What liberation was followed by the tragedy. That Good, having defeated Evil, committed the atrocity itself. And either we have to admit that it was not quite "Good", or say that it did not quite an evil deed.

And now the 73rd year in a row this day becomes an unmistakable test for scoundrels.
