The US can impose new sanctions against Russia for "violating religious freedoms".
According to Life, two resolutions have been added to the House of Representatives and the US Senate for the authorship of Congressman Haltgren and Senator Lenkford referring to the recent report of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom.
Under repressive religious legislation in Russia, US officials understand anti-extremist measures within the so-called "Yarovoy package", which have significantly complicated the activities in Russia of a number of religious sects and trends that are not traditional for the Russian Federation, which, according to the authorities, are used "as a cover for Work of foreign special services ".
Particular attention is paid to condemn Russia for oppressing religious groups, and the United States puts Russia in one position in terms of assessing the repressiveness of legislation with the countries of equatorial Africa.
At the same time, the situation with religious freedom in Russia is recognized as a "threat to the national interests" of the United States and, according to US officials, Russian officials who are not in favor of anti-extremism legislation that does not like the US can actually be sanctioned.
Resolutions Nos. 162 and 319, submitted to the House of Representatives and Senate of the US Congress by the Republicans James Lencford and Randy Haltgren, are aimed at squandering the idea of ??establishing a special "religious" ambassador who would deal with the promotion of religious freedom around the world, Special adviser on these issues to the US National Security Council and to incorporate the issues of religious freedom abroad into the US national security strategy.
Let us recall that earlier the Ministry of Justice of Russia filed a lawsuit to the Supreme Court on recognizing the "Administrative Center of Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia" as an extremist organization, its liquidation and prohibition of activities.
As reported by the "Observer", on April 20 in Russia "Jehovah's Witnesses" were recognized as extremists.
