French President Emmanuel Macron appointed the new prime minister 46-year-old mayor of Le Havre, Edouard Philippe.

"The President decided to appoint Edouard Philip as prime minister. Told him to form a government, "- told reporters the representative of the Elysee Palace Alexi Kohler.

It is noted that the ceremony of the premier's entry into office should take place before the end of Monday.

Edouard Philip, while studying at the Institute for Political Studies in Paris, joined the Socialist Party and participated in the political campaign of Michel Rocard, then Prime Minister of the country.

Later, Philip's political views shifted to the right. After graduation, he joined the State Council of France, where he was engaged in public procurement.

In 2008, Edouard Philippe was elected a member of the General Council of the Department of the Seaside of the Canton of Le Havre-5, and in 2010 he became the mayor of Le Havre.

Until early 2017, Philip served as spokesman for one of the leaders of the Republican Party Alain Juppe. After Juppe failed to become a candidate for the presidency of France from the Republicans, Philip supported Macron.

According to ex-People's Deputy of Ukraine, ally of Philip, ex-premier Alain Juppe, "The Kremlin does not tolerate the spirit".

"Putin's entourage did everything to win the primaries of the right, Fillon, because he is a friend of the Kremlin," he recalled..
