The increase in the number of victims of a massive hacker attack in Europe has halted. This was stated by a representative of the police organization of the European Union on Monday, May 15, in The Hague.

"Obviously, the number of victims does not increase. The situation in Europe seems to have stabilized. This is success, "he said..

A Europol employee linked this trend to the fact that computer owners and system administrators, at last, had done their "homework" and installed software updates to protect themselves from the malicious WannaCry program.

Meanwhile, the EU police service believes that it is too early to say who is behind the attack. "We are working on creating a tool that will allow us to calculate criminals using a malicious program," assured the Europol employee.

We note that the WannaCry virus continued spreading in Asian countries - today the second wave of the virus swept through Japan, China and South Korea.

Cybercriminals using a virus-extortionist WannaCry encrypt data on computers and require 200-600 dollars for unlocking. The creators of the extortion virus WannaCry have already received more than 42,000 dollars from their victims.
