The vast majority of the adult population suffers from headaches from time to time. Approximately 10% of people have such pains associated with organic diseases, while 7% have permanent symptoms. Often, headache is a symptom of psychosomatic disorders, and very often is a form of such a disorder, writes likar. Info. Typically, psychosomatic pains appear as a result of stressful factors, which, affecting the nervous system, can change the functions and condition of different organs and systems of the human body. As a result of stress, the heart rate changes, the frequency of breathing, the tone of the vessels, the function of the gastrointestinal tract, and more. Due to these changes, there may be a disturbance in metabolic processes, a change in cerebral circulation, an increase in the vibrational mobility of blood vessels. Increases intracranial pressure, and this, in turn, leads to irritation of pain receptors. In what cases do psychosomatic headaches occur? - Headache may occur during a psychosomatic reaction to a conflict or emotional trauma. Most of us are firsthand with the headache that appears from nowhere, in moments of intense unrest and emotions. - Hostility, resentment and anger can replace short-term headaches. Such pain can also occur as a reaction to an overload, both physical and emotional, to general fatigue, or against a background of conflict regarding recognition of significance. A trigger mechanism is often situations in which a person does not manage to achieve the desired social success. - Depression can also cause headaches. Along with other somatic complaints, the headache usually dominates, in the case of masked and hidden depression. The cause may be depressive depression, which, as a rule, has three main stages: increased sensitivity and irritability, psychosomatic complaints, including headache, and, finally, depletion of the nervous system (headache syndrome of the second half of life). The Psychological Significance of Headaches Headaches arise when the mental level is overcrowded. The pain itself acts as a way of unloading. Through pain, a symbolic reflection of the feelings suppressed by man is realized. Many people associate pain with feelings of guilt and punishment. But, meanwhile, psychosomatic pain often leads to the appearance of tension and anxiety, which increase its perception. There are a number of traits characteristic of people suffering from psychosomatic headaches. Usually it's perfectionists, people who want to do their job are not just good, but perfect. They are characterized by such qualities as ambitiousness, increased emotionality, conscientiousness, hypertrophied responsibility, the need for approval and recognition, as well as altruism, often accompanied by a sense of guilt for lack of devotion to the ideas of altruism. To help a person with psychosomatic headaches, analgesics alone are not enough, although they often alleviate the headache for at least a time. For a complete victory over the pain, such people need to survive the internal conflict and get rid of increased stress. The internal conflict can be processed within the framework of psychological counseling. In order to remove the emotional factor that generates psychosomatic headaches, it is necessary to learn to be less receptive, to release oneself from the need for obtaining approval, to stop striving to please everyone and to slightly reduce the bar of requirements established in relation to oneself. How to help yourself cope with a headache of a psychosomatic nature - Do not be afraid to express your point of view, and do not try to adjust to someone to get approval. Do not accumulate negative emotions and feelings in yourself. - Define the limits of your own abilities. It's not a sin to try to jump higher than your head, but each time getting to the skies is a difficult task, do not blame yourself for not being able to grow wings. Work by virtue of your abilities and in such a way that the work you are doing gives you pleasure. - Do not try to please everyone.. First, it is impossible, and secondly, you, one way or another, will have to deceive yourself and betray your own interests. - Try to tune in to positive thinking. If you are concerned about something, do not plunge into the abyss of reflection and self-flagellation, think about how to prioritize your priorities differently and move towards a tangible goal. Everything has its time. - More often find an occasion for smiles and laughter, do not shut yourself in and talk with people. - Let's have emotions, if you want to cry - cry. Many psychologists believe that crying is a good way to give stress a way out. If you do not want to cry, but the emotions overwhelm you, try to scream very loudly, the cry, according to psychologists, gives the worst possible outcome to stress. - In view of the fact that the enslavement of muscles is also one of the causes of headaches, an effective preventive measure can be relaxation and massage of the neck and shoulder area.

The headache can be the answer of an organism to internal experiences of the person.
