Relations between the US and Russia formally exist. Nobody declared war to anyone, did not tear diplomatic relations. Question in another. When Trump was elected, there was a lot of talk about a "big deal" between Russia and America. How then, and now it is not clear what kind of deal is involved. After all, the transaction is commodity-money. The product that Russia would like to receive from America is the abolition of sanctions, especially financial ones, writes Leonid Radzikhovsky for Apostrophe. - Also, Russia needs the US to stop pressuring Europeans, forcing them to renew their sanctions. In addition, there are personal sanctions, which are quite painful for many Russian top officials, businessmen. But what money can the RF pay for this product?.
All these euphoric ecstasies from Trump were psychologically understandable, but the Russian elite, no matter how scoffed, no matter how inflated their cheeks, was exhausted by the confrontation with the West. Since they entered into this confrontation in a drunken state, in a frenzy, and now the hops have passed, there is no prospect here, there is no way out of the impasse. The elite is tired and would like to lift sanctions. Hence the euphoria about Trump. But, except for drinking champagne and talking about the fact that Trump is good, Russia has nothing to offer the West.
In the Ukrainian direction, Russia can not offer any changes either. There is no talk about Crimea, no one will ever give it back.. In the Donbass, Russia has done everything it could: the conflict is frozen. There was no talk about the implementation of the Minsk Agreements from the very beginning, they were complete bullshit. But this does not suit the West, but would suit Russia's solemn and exemplary retreat. Exactly the same as in the 90th Russian troops were withdrawn from Europe to the thunder of orchestras. But Putin can not go for this, because for him it is equal to suicide. There remains the second direction - Syria.
In the endless conversations that together to fight with IGIL, together to fight terrorism, there is nothing real. The whole titanic struggle of Russia in Syria for almost two years was reduced to the fact that it defended the rule of Bashar Assad, but nobody needs it either in Europe or in America. With the Igil more and less successfully Americans are fighting. What can Russia do for them here? Well, Russian planes will be more active in bombing Igil, but military-technical means nothing. Minor additive.
Land forces in Syria Putin will never send. It is impossible, as well as the fact that he will give the Crimea. Because in Russia it will cause an explosion, the population will be in a rage, everyone will perceive this as Afghanistan. Perhaps, of course, there would be a psychological, public relations stunt. It would look super-effective: like Churchill, Roosevelt and Stalin, so now Putin, Trump and some European leader with great pomp, embrace the "anti-Hitler coalition", the union, sign some agreements on joint struggle against IGIL. Unfortunately, such a move is also impossible, because Putin has done everything to ensure that his demonization in the West is no less than Stalin in his time. But Stalin was vital to the West, and they do not need Putin.
Therefore, actual relations between the US and Russia in the sense of lifting sanctions, expanding financial contacts, technological, and also, which is very important for Russia, the removal of tension, the change in the regime of confrontation, will not. There are many reasons for preserving this state of things. Trump is always hanging by a thread. Talk of suspicious relations with Russia continues. Any step towards the RF will be viewed through a magnifying glass and, except for troubles, nothing will bring Trump, and there are no benefits for him in this.
Trump is Russia's extremely stupid effort to intervene in the American elections, which returned as a boomerang. From his election, Russia did not have anything to eat. Precisely because these contacts and connections are too suspicious. Why was it so violently, sticking out his tongue, shouting: Long live Le Pen? It was clear that she would fail in the elections. Why was it necessary to set up against the new president of France? Incredible stupidity. If Russia did not wave its hands, the elected French President Emmanuel Macron would have treated her much more tolerantly.
But it's not even in Trump or Le Pen, but the fact that Russia still has nothing to offer the West. And the Russian Federation needs financial injections from the West - its companies need cheap loans. The Russian elite really wants to have relations and links with the West. Russian society as a whole, which was pumped up with anti-Western doping, is tired of all this. There must be a sinusoid, at least. If there was a rise in this drunken courage, then there must be a decline. For Putin, if he goes to be elected in 2018, it would be a magnificent move, of course, to show: here, we saved all our gains, the vital Crimea, preserved the vital Donbass, and at the same time reconciled with the West. The West has understood and realized our rightness - historical, psychological, political. And in the implication of this it means that the West on its knees and on the belly should creep towards Russia. But it will not be the same: the West does not need it, but only the Russian Federation.
