According to the Italian news agency ANSA, there were 120 people on board.

At the same time, 40 rescued migrants were taken to the port of Pozzallo on the island of Sicily.

The reason for the disaster is that the ship that sailed from the coast of Libya, quickly began to recruit water, and all the migrants who were in it, were on the high seas. As a result of what happened, only a third of them waited for help.

It should be noted that the rescue operations involved both ships of the department, as well as the warships of the Italian naval forces, the European Agency for the Protection of External Borders, as well as non-governmental organizations.

The Prosecutor's Office of Ragusa has now begun an investigation.

Recall, as previously reported, "URA-Inform, 3 thousand migrants were rescued in the Mediterranean, trying to get to Europe. So, to save people, more than 20 separate rescue operations were carried out.
