There are serious doubts about the relevance of applications for watchOS. As an Apple Watch user, I can say that they are not unfounded.

To start with the main question - do we use applications for Apple Watch now. Personally, I do not use them, and for that there may be two reasons. The first reason - applications for hours are not needed, and the device is good without them. The second reason is that applications for Apple Watch are needed, but not in the current implementation.

Watch from Apple - a wonderful device. My favorite feature is notifications that come on the iPhone and are duplicated on the clock screen. You do not need to have the app in order to read the notification. All the rest is much more convenient to do with a smartphone, where all the necessary applications are, but there is no doubt about their relevance.

It's very convenient to use Siri with the clock, and, of course, I can not forget about the ability to control the playback of music and stunning applications for tracking activity and playing sports. And how good the remote control of the iPhone camera!.

In other words, it seems that Apple Watch has a good application. They were created by Apple specifically for their device. Third-party applications were not needed. Perhaps, for the reason that the developers could not disclose the capabilities of the clock, and maybe they do not have the right tools. So, applications for Apple Watch are still needed, but they must be different.

Need other applications for Apple Watch.

Ordering a taxi with a clock is uncomfortable, it's easier to get an iPhone. Watch the Instagram tape with the clock at least strange. I'll have to try to find a really useful application for Apple Watch from third-party developers. Typically, these applications do not give users anything that they could not do with great comfort by picking up the iPhone. This also applies to applications that recently got rid of support for Apple Watch: Google Maps, eBay and Amazon.

It is clear that we recall the already well-known applications that we like to use on the iPhone, and we expect that it will be as convenient for us to use them on the clock. And what if the smart clock is a completely different device for which you need very different applications? Maybe watchOS gives a chance to new developers to find a new approach, to see the previously unknown road and create something specifically for the clock, without looking back at the experience of smartphone users and existing developments.

Once in all the time of the existence of Apple Watch nothing like this has happened, perhaps Apple needs to push the developers in the right direction. Show a good example and give tools for creativity. They are, but they can be done better. WWDC 2017 is a great opportunity to do all this. Especially since it smelled of fried.
