Contrary to statements by US President Donald Trump, Apple and component suppliers will not be able to transfer iPhone production and create new jobs in the US. About this student of New York University, Dejian (Ken) Zeng said in an interview with CNBC.

In 2016, Zeng worked for a month and a half at the Pegatron plant in Shanghai. Subsequently, he described the difficult conditions of work at the enterprise, in particular in October 2016. In an interview with the Carnegie Council on Ethics in International Relations, and in April 2017 in an interview that leads Vestifinance.

In a new interview, a student at New York University, who received personal experience in assembling an iPhone in China, noted that Apple will not be able to return the production of smartphones from China and other Asian countries to the US: Americans simply will not agree to similar working conditions and low salaries.

In addition, he also noted that companies are seeking to reduce their costs, transferring production from China to countries with even lower wages and other costs.

President Donald Trump said that he wants to get Apple and the manufacturers of components for the transfer of production in the US for the purpose of their production in US enterprises. What do you think about this idea? Will the Americans agree on similar working conditions? What should be changed in order for such a transfer of production to be possible?.

"In my opinion, firstly, wages are unacceptable for American employees. I was paid 3 100 yuan, or $ 450, per month. I do not think that the Americans will agree to such a salary, given the living conditions and prices in the US.

Even if Apple moves production in the US, most likely, they will replace people with robots. I would note that on the assembly line where I worked, some of the work was already done by robots. For example, cameras on the rear panel and batteries in smartphones were already installed by robots.

Many enterprises in China use manual labor, because it is cheaper than using robots. When transferring production in the US, there may also be certain difficulties with trade unions. There are no trade unions in China. In the US, these are quite strong organizations, which can complicate the situation in enterprises for management.

In China, at such enterprises, the turnover of staff is very high. Many leave in just two weeks or a month. For ordinary workers in China, it is rather difficult to think in terms of categories: "No, I do not like it, we need to assemble and protest".

I would also say that China's economy continues to evolve. Prices for food and housing are growing, together with them, wages are rising. In other countries, such as Bangladesh, salaries are still very low. Many companies now shut down enterprises in China and transfer production to countries with lower labor costs. Previously, enterprises were located in the US, then they were transferred to China, now they are transferred to countries such as Vietnam and Bangladesh ".
