Women are several times more likely than men to be allergic to antibiotics, including allergic reactions to penicillin. This was reported by scientists from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester (USA).

As shown by their studies, which involved 1759 people who are allergic to antibiotics, severe forms of allergic reactions, which are positive skin tests for the corresponding allergen, occur in women 5 times more often than men.

Thus, among the participants in the study, they were registered in 64 patients, 11 of whom were men, 53 women.

According to scientists, the data obtained by them mean that in the development of allergic reactions a certain role is played by sex hormones, the content of which in the body of men and women is naturally different.
