The Constitutional Court of Moldova ruled that the stay of Russian peacekeepers on the territory of Transnistria contradicts neutrality.
According to the court decision, the principle of neutrality does not contradict the Constitution and legislation. At the same time, "about 11% of the territory of Moldova is occupied, and the Russian army was not withdrawn from the Transnistrian region of Moldova".
Two years ago, the Liberal Party of Moldova appealed to the Constitutional Court, demanding that the presence of the Russian army on the territory of Transdniestria be unconstitutional.
In the unrecognized Pridnestrovskaia Moldavskaia Respublika, joint peacekeeping forces are stationed on the territory of Moldova, the absolute majority of which are Russian military servicemen.
As reported, the leader of the self-proclaimed Transnistrian region, Vadim Krasnoselsky, rejected the proposal to start negotiations on granting the region a special status within Moldova. According to Krasnoselsky, he is not going to change the course of the unrecognized republic to join Russia.
