The main topic of the telephone conversation between the Presidents of Russia and the United States on Tuesday, May 2, was the coordination of the actions of the two countries in the fight against terrorism in Syria, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the Kremlin press service.

Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump discussed the intensification of the dialogue at the level of foreign ministers to find solutions to the Syrian crisis. The parties intend to create prerequisites for launching a real settlement in Syria.

Also, the presidents of Russia and the US discussed the situation on the Korean peninsula. The Russian president repeatedly called on the parties involved in this conflict to restrain and reduce the level of tension.

The heads of state agreed to maintain contacts by phone, and intend to meet in person at the July G20 summit in Hamburg. According to the Kremlin press service, the conversation "was of a businesslike and constructive nature".

The conversation between Putin and Trump was the third since the inauguration of the American president. The first conversation was held at the end of January, when the leaders discussed the fight against terrorism, the situation in Syria and Ukraine, as well as the main issues of bilateral relations between the Russian Federation and the United States. In early April Trump called Putin to express his condolences in connection with the terrorist attack in St. Petersburg.
