As the Zaporozhye region police told journalists, the employees of the regional department of crime prevention in the sphere of economy documented the fact of receiving a bribe.

A local official, who occupies a particularly responsible position and conducts law enforcement activities in the nature protection sphere, received six thousand hryvnias. For this money, he promised not to prosecute a citizen for illegal fishing in the protected area.

His detention took place in the framework of a criminal case opened by the prosecutor's office of the region on the fact of extortion from citizens. However, during the detention, the bribe taker tried to hide from the police while driving his car into a police car.

At the same time, the official was detained in one of the central parks of Berdyansk. At the same time, the investigators assume that the official repeatedly received money from citizens detained for illegal catch in the protected area. The detainee is taken into custody. A measure of restraint for the period of his detention in custody will be determined by the court.
