For 20-year-old Sergey it was the first adult European championship. In personal competitions, unfortunately, he lost in the first duel to a rival from Bulgaria, but the successful performance in team competitions led him to the medal podium.
The men's team of Ukraine, which included Sergey Krivchach in the 81kg weight class, won the team of Germany with a score of 3-2 from the team of Germany, 4: 1 from the Hungarian national team, but in the semi-finals 2: 3 lost to the rivals from Georgia, who in the end Became the champions of Europe.
In the duel for the "bronze" Ukrainians met with rivals from Azerbaijan, who led the score, but in the last match made a fatal mistake, and as a result was disqualified by the judges.
In turn, the Ukrainian team became a bronze medalist.
In the Department of Youth and Sports of HOGA, they note that in a duel against a rival from Georgia, Sergei Krivchach was injured, but was able to finish the fight victoriously, and, despite the injury, went on to the next duel against Azerbaijanian Rufat Ismailov. Yielding one point to the opponent, Kharkiv in the last seconds transferred the fight to an additional round, but to win the "golden ball", alas, could not.
In total at this European Championship Ukrainians won 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze award.
