The US Department of Defense is transferring its computers to the Windows 10 operating system, although only by this is its cooperation with Microsoft not limited to. The transition to Windows 10 should be completed before the fall of this year.

Meanwhile, in the Pentagon there are a lot of computers that are still very far from Windows 10. Some of them work even on systems of 20 years ago Windows 95 and Windows 98. Needless to say, these operating systems have not been supported for a long time, like Windows XP, which also finds application in critical Pentagon systems. 75% of computers run on Windows XP and other unsupported versions. The statistics were obtained on the basis of visits to 15 different military facilities.

However, the military is asking citizens not to worry, because these computers do not have access to the Internet, so it is problematic to hack them. However, it can not be said that this is impossible, especially if the computer is included in large networks, the other participants of which are connected to the Internet.

In addition, systems running Windows 98 and 95 have sensors that have independent access to the global network, so they are vulnerable to attack, and older operating systems do not contribute to their protection.
