The sculpture of Josef Svejk ended his forced anabasis: the police detained the captor of the figure to the brave soldier.

As reported in the press service of the State Unitary Enterprise, the thief was a previously convicted 30-year-old from Odessa, who explained that the stolen bronze figure wanted to sell in the future - she brought the stolen goods to the scrap metal reception point.

The malefactor had previously served a sentence for committing property crimes. According to this fact, criminal proceedings were commenced on h. 2 items. 185 (theft) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Recall, the brave soldier Svejk from the facade of the beer "Gambrinus", that at the corner of Deribasovskaya and the lane of Vice-Admiral Zhukov, was kidnapped on the night of Tuesday.

Sculpture was presented to Odessa last year for City Day. The initiator of the installation was the representatives of the society of Jaroslav Hasek in the Czech Republic.

As the director of the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Odessa City Council Tatiana Markova told "Dumskaya", Svejk was solemnly returned to the place, on Tuesday, after all necessary procedures with the transfer of material evidence.
