Detained Deputy Director of Odessa Refinery on the "Kurchenko Case"

At the airport "Boryspil" detained one of the deputies of the general director of PJSC "Odessa Oil Refinery", suspected of complicity in organizing a fictitious re-export of petroleum products under the "Kurchenko scheme".

Detention was carried out by the SBU operative and the National Police under the procedural direction of the Odessa regional prosecutor's office on the decision of the Primorsky Court of Odessa, the prosecutor's office said on Friday evening, April 21.

According to the investigation, under the supervision of a suspect in the Odessa Refinery, a fictitious export of over 700,000 tons of light oil products through the re-export of OOO Laguna-Reni. Petroleum products were sold on the territory of Ukraine by enterprises controlled by the oligarch Sergei Kurchenko, without paying mandatory customs payments. As a result of these actions of the criminal group, the state suffered more than 2 billion hryvnyas of losses.

As the press-secretary of the public prosecutor Larisa Sargan informed, the detainee was given a notice of suspicion by h. 1 st. 255 (participation in a criminal organization), h. 4 items. 28 hours. 3 items. 212 (evasion from payment of taxes in especially large amounts), art.. 366 (service forgery) of the Criminal Code.

Earlier, the GPU found that Kurchenko through a number of companies - Ukrkharkivpostachannya-2009, Luganskpropangaz, Kharkiv-SPBT, GazUkraine-2009 and GazUkraine-2020, Zaporozhgaz-2000, Cherkassy-Gazsnab and Other structures - bought liquefied gas at specialized auctions at preferential prices (for the needs of the population) and sold on the market already at market value. As a result, Kurchenko, according to a preliminary agreement with the employees of Naftogaz Ukrainy and others, caused damage to the state for a total of more than 1 billion UAH.
