The State Migration Service, which oversees the issue of ID-cards, made a list of the most conservative banks on the basis of citizens' complaints. And asked the NBU to somehow influence them.
"The State Migration Service receives a large number of complaints about the refusal of bank employees to serve customers with ID-cards. This includes, inter alia, the issuance of consumer loans, in particular, in the retail networks of household appliances. At the same time, the presentation of a passport "in the form of a little book" does not lead to such problems, "the letter says to the deputy head of the NBU, Yakov Smoliy.
According to the agency, the most common complaints about ID-cards come to OTP Bank, Idea Bank, FUIB Bank and Alfa-Bank, notes finclub.
In response, the National Bank on behalf of Mr. Smolia sent a separate letter to the financial institutions and profile associations. In it, the regulator marked "on the organization of cash work" once again explained to financial institutions that since February 10 this year ID-card must be considered a full analogue of the classic passport of a citizen of Ukraine.
The letter was received by all Ukrainian banks, as well as banking associations of NABU, AUB and "Ukrainian Credit Banking Union".
This is not the first letter on ID-cards from the NBU to financial institutions. The regulator sent similar explanations on February 23. Now the National Bank has openly called upon banks to work more closely on this issue on the ground and introduce new rules for ordinary employees.
"In order to avoid negative consequences and misunderstandings when working with clients, the NBU considers it necessary for banks to take appropriate measures to familiarize employees with changes in legislation. In particular, this concerns the use of ID-cards by clients, which is a full passport of a citizen of Ukraine, "the letter of the regulator reads.
