Ronald and Donald

"Eka Olympics Carter, then spoiled the biography!".

This phrase, accidentally heard by me, then another 13-year-old schoolboy, on the street, I remember for the rest of my life. Because it was the first vivid manifestation of political idiocy, which I faced not on TV, but in reality. Talked two adults - shared impressions of the presidential elections in the United States, at which incumbent president Democrat Jimmy Carter lost to Republican Ronald Reagan.

Carter was a convinced peacemaker, now would say - an idealist, sincerely trying to agree on continuing detente with the elderly Soviet General Secretary Leonid Brezhnev and the leader surrounding the marasmatics. But he remembered Soviet people not by these attempts, but by his reaction to the Soviet aggression in Afghanistan, expressed, in particular, in the boycott of the Moscow Olympics.

These two on the street were genuinely indignant over the fact that the American adversary, for some unknown reason, spoiled their "Olympic" games, tried to punish "do Russian wars want you to ask silence" for the fulfillment of the "international duty". And he got what he deserved. Now the United States will have a sane pragmatic president, with whom Leonid Ilich and his gang will agree on Hitler-Stalin concepts: this is me, this is for you.

It's interesting - did these two survive until last year? Did the victory of Republican candidate Donald Trump over the democratic nomination of Hillary Clinton rejoice? Did they say that dislike for Putin and Obama's wrong behavior spoiled Hillary's biography? That the one who quarrels with "do Russian wars want - you ask silence" and does not understand the beauty of fulfilling an international duty in Ukraine or Syria is doomed to failure?.

Obama on his foreign policy priorities was even a greater idealist than Carter - and Clinton, who worked in his first administration as secretary of state, completely shared his approaches and was ready to professionally implement them. Instead of harshly opposing the Kremlin, which had already waged a war in Georgia and did not hide its expansionist plans in the post-Soviet space and the Middle East, Obama and Putin started a meaningless "reset" with Putin only convinced the Russian ruler of his impunity.

Putin would have to pray to Obama about how Brezhnev was supposed to pray for Carter - but instead they decided in the Kremlin to arrange their Chekist "Olympics" in the United States and help defeat the architect of the "reset" of Clinton in the presidential election. The architect of the "reset" was written off as a political scam - as several decades ago the advocate of "detente" Carter was scrapped, and in the Kremlin they again opened champagne - interestingly, the same brand that celebrated Reagan's victory? Or did they still use their own, Soviet?.

The boy, literally opening his mouth from what he heard on the street, I sincerely could not understand how adults can be such frank boobies. I did not know much about life in the United States, but even a simple visit to the American agricultural exhibition, then organized in the Soviet Union under the patronage of President Carter, demonstrated the civilizational distance between the US and the USSR - decades of Soviet lag behind the civilized world. I could not believe that adults believe that Americans in their choice of the head of state are guided by some kind of boycotted Olympiad and the point of view of the inhabitants of a poorly underdeveloped country. But after all these two lived in a closed world, they believed in non-alternative television and their own party and had the right to stupidity.

The more striking that the leaders of the country that appeared in the open world were just as short-sighted, just obliged to understand how the United States is actually organized and how the president-republican - even the most extrasystemic one - differs in terms of foreign policy approaches from the president-democrat. Soviet Kremlin elders called Ronald on their head, modern Kremlin "gopnik" - Donald, and the result will be the same.
