Ukraine's permanent representative to the UN, Vladimir Yelchenko, called the "group of friends of Ukraine" within the UN a possible alternative to the "Norman format".

"There is another format, which is now little said. Back in December 2015, I said that it would be possible to try, within the framework of the UN, to create the so-called group of friends of Ukraine. Such cases were in the past, there was a group of friends of Georgia, which, by the way, helped the Security Council very much at the time when there was a UN presence in Abkhazia, "Yelchenko said in an interview with the publication" Apostrof ".

He noted that this group could include Germany, or Poland, or the Baltic countries, and in general any country that Ukraine is ready to help and stressed that such conversations should begin, first of all, in the "Norman format" and, and "then Already move on ".

Earlier it was reported that following talks with US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in Munich, German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel said that the format of the "Norman Four" would not be expanded.

Nevertheless, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Pavel Klimkin, in an interview with ZN. UA denied the existence of an agreement not to expand the "Norman format" at the expense of the US.
