The Committee of the European Parliament on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs will consider liberalization of the visa regime for Ukraine as early as Thursday, March 9.

This is stated on the official website of the European Parliament.

According to the agency, the committee will consider the inclusion of Ukraine in the list of third countries whose citizens are exempted from the need to have visas when crossing the external border of the European Union.

The speaker will be Maria Gabriel. Voting will take place on the text, which was agreed upon during the interdepartmental negotiations.

Recall that on February 28, following the consultations of the EU countries, as well as representatives of the European Parliament and the European Commission, agreement was reached on launching visa liberalization for Ukraine. In March-April, the document on visa-free regime for Ukrainians will be considered in the European Parliament, and in May it will have to be approved by the EU Council.

As reported by the "Observer", a member of the European Parliament Petras Ausstrevicius stated that the visa-free regime for Ukraine can become valid at the beginning of the second half of 2017.
